These Retirement Systems are defined benefit retirement plans under Utah Retirement Systems (URS) intended to provide a meaningful retirement benefit to the people who have chosen a career in public service. The plans are qualified tax-deferred plans under Internal Revenue Code Section 401(a). The laws that govern these retirement systems are set forth in Utah Code Title 49.
